WORKSHOPS

Frank Gottschalk

I live in Mannheim, in the deep south of Germany, and started judo at the age of 6.

This made me a specialist in lifting figures in tango.

Tango I started soon after the beginning of this century.

I teach Tango Nuevo as well as the traditional Tango Argentino (= Tango Canyengue).

Ronja Wutke

Tango has been my companion for 25 years now.

You all know what I mean when I say that tango is more than a dance – it is a being, a companion, a mirror and a symbol for so much in life and in ourselves.

My greatest passion is teaching. What fascinates me most is how spaces can open up where learning happens not just through steps and technique, but through perception, connection, and genuine encounter. It matters deeply to me to create an atmosphere in which everyone can feel seen and free to explore, experiment, and discover their own expression in tango.

I love offering impulses that not only enrich the dance but also deepen one’s own experience – in dialogue with oneself and with others. For me, teaching becomes a shared creative process in which we learn from one another and inspire each other.

Let us create something magnificent and, at the same time, fleeting together.

And if you’re ever in Berlin…

Twice a month you’ll find me at my neolonga “Tango Vicioso” at Insomnia.

Workshop I

12:00-13:30

Connection in Tango Nuevo Ronja Wutke

Registration is sent by email to Tango Silkeborg. provide name, gender, dance role and email address

What if connection doesn’t begin between two people – but within yourself?
Before we meet each other, we connect to our own body, to the ground beneath us, and to the music that carries us.

In this workshop, we explore how this inner awareness becomes clear and gentle communication:
leading that doesn’t push, but invites –
and following that doesn’t just respond, but actively shapes the dance.

We move through different embraces – close, open, and flexible – discovering how connection shifts and deepens within each of them.

Why this workshop?
Because true connection is the foundation of everything.
And because tango comes alive where balance, presence, and a sense of play meet.

Lift and tilt figures in Tango Nuevo - Frank GottSchalk

Registration is sent by email to Tango Silkeborg. provide name, gender, dance role and email address

A safe starting in the world of flying and landing in Tango Nuevo. Tilts and lifts in Tango can look very spectacular and also bring a lot of fun. But the hard floor we are dancing on also brings danger.

Last but not least the landing can bring you in trouble especially in high heels. We will start in flat dancing shoes or barefoot to make it less dangerous but learn

How to train the correct lifting and landing technics to make it safe even in high heels.

Workshop III

Improvisation for Leaders & Followers - Ronja Wutke

Registration is sent by email to Tango Silkeborg. provide name, gender, dance role and email address

Each new embrace, each new song – and yet we often meet in familiar patterns.
What if that’s exactly where something unexpected begins?

In this workshop, we explore techniques for both roles that deepen awareness, open new freedoms, and create space for real surprises.
Improvisation is not about losing direction – it’s about being fully alive in the moment.

We learn from and with each other – guided by curiosity.

Why this workshop?
Because the most beautiful tango moments happen when we stop controlling and start listening.
Freedom in tango is not an accident – it’s an invitation.

Workshop Sunday

Workshop I

12:00-13:30

The art of dancing in series in Tango Nuevo - Frank  Gottschalk

Registration is sent by email to Tango Silkeborg. provide name, gender, dance role and email address

Dancing in series is something special of my own Tango. Some may say as a lazy Tanguero I always dance the same. Grin!

Dancing in series means longer repetition of easy up to complicated single figures (even lifts are possible in series) without any stopping and also it's possible to create a secondary figure like circles or Ochos... with the repetition.

Doesn't sound too difficult but it looks awful without a high precision. This workshop will help with this precision and smart connection of the single figures.

Workshop II

14:00-15:30

On Axis - Off Axis - Ronja Wutke

Registration is sent by email to Tango Silkeborg. provide name, gender, dance role and email address

What happens when we share our balance?

And what does it feel like to move out of your own axis – and still be supported?

In this workshop, we explore classic neo tango elements such as volcadas and colgadas.

With clear technique and growing trust, we discover how to create stability together – especially when we seem to leave it behind.

We work in both roles and experience how dependency becomes dialogue – precise, alive, and surprisingly light.

Why this Workshop

Because when we let go of control, a new quality of connection emerges.

And because shared balance is more than technique – it’s trust in motion.

Slow motion voleos - Frank  Gottschalk

Registration is sent by email to Tango Silkeborg. provide name, gender, dance role and email address

Watching Tango Nuevo dancers I analysed  a lot of Tangueras dancing excellent fast Voleos but can't dance slow motion Voleos at all. The music of Piazolla is perfect for lightspeed Voleos but  most Neo- and Nontangos are very very s-l-o-w.

Dancing the same Voleo in slow motion changes the dynamic totally. Leading and dancing the Voleo changes much.

This workshop will lead to a new balance of speed and elegance.  Discover the beauty of slowness!
